Located in Jackson County, North Carolina, Whiteside Mountain Trail is 2.5 miles and provides a fabulous view.  Although safety rails are in place to offer unobstructed views for a family friendly adventure, some spots may still be a little dangerous.  Since this is a loop hike, you have a choice at the split. If you want a gradual climb, take the gravel road to the left.  If you are looking for a steep but shorter trip to the top, take the stone stairs on the right.
