Virginia Parks
Virginia has thirty-eight parks throughout the state. Coupled with Shenandoah National Park, there is plenty outside to explore.
Claytor Lake State Park
Known for sport fishing and boating, Claytor Lake has a full-service marina including boat rentals. The Howe House has interactive exhibits describing the lake ecology. Overlooking the 4,500 acre lake, the park has three lodges and rental cabins available.
Shenandoah River State Park
Also called Andy Guest State Park, named after a Virginia delegate, this park is known for its river access. With a large picnic area and a car-top boat launch it is popular with anglers and canoeists.
Natural Bridge State Park
Natural Bridge is a designated National Historical Landmark and was actually included on several "Seven Natural Wonders of the World" lists in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Take the accessible Cedar Creek Trail to a Monacan Indian Village and Lace Falls. The natural bridge is located directly behind the historic hotel where you pay a nominal fee to enter.
