Cherohala comes from the combination of the names of the two forests the skyway crosses - Cherokee and Nantahala.   This is a 43mile skyway that connects Tellico Plains, TN to Robbinsville, NC.  There are no fuel or food stops (except when Indian Boundary is open), so be sure to stock before beginning your trip!  We recommend to stop at Tellico Beach Drive -In in Tellico  Plains or Tapoco Tavern in Robbinsville.   There is a great visitor center in Tellico Plains where you can  refresh, grab a map  of the skyway and shop wonderful crafts  from local artisans.
